Chem-Plate does Electrocoating or ‘E-Coat’, as it is commonly referred to in the fastener industry. Electrocoating is a painting process which uses an electrical current to deposit paint on the metal surface. Through the electrical process, paint is drawn to the surface of the part, creating a uniform film over the entire surface until the coating reaches the needed thickness, which is determined by the amount of current. Due to this self limiting process, ECoat is an excellent finish to minimize recess and thread fill and is also chip resistant
E-Coat is often used as the topcoat over other base metal finishes, where additional salt spray hours are required and gives an attractive black matte finish.
